GLI sent an email to member companies today, offering the opportunity to sign on to a letter voicing concern about the burden that the Department of Labor’s proposed overtime rule would have on Kentucky businesses.
The U.S. Department of Labor has issued a proposed change to the overtime pay threshold for “white collar” workers. The proposed change would increase the threshold by more than double and would allow businesses just one year to implement all changes on the hour and administrative levels.
GLI has heard from many of its members, the employers in the community, and has been talking to employers across the community. The result is a letter, available HERE, that outlines the biggest concerns that GLI has heard from employers and a few commonsense changes that we think could be made to the overtime rule in order to offer businesses a fighting chance to stay competitive in some of the region’s most cutthroat industries.
GLI encourages you to sign on to the letter linked here so that we can let the Department of Labor and Congress know that the realities on Main Street don’t always fit the politics on K Street.
